Parents and Community Members,
With each year and each activity, there aren’t enough comments that can describe how great our Woodlawn School Community is. In the past several weeks, I’ve watched our young women and men compete in the district and regional basketball tournaments. I can’t begin to express how proud I am to watch them give their best from beginning to end. Even more proud of their character and sportsmanship noticed by many outside of our school community.
I’m also proud of our parents and staff for the support of our students and our coaches. I’ve also watched as other school’s parents and personnel have placed blame on other schools recently. We’ve been the target of ridicule and blame. I find it reproachable when adults target children and other coaches. It’s unprofessional for school personnel to encourage such behavior via social media or any other means. I’m thankful to be superintendent of a school district where we have a learning culture that cares about all kids. Thank you!!
As for our Bears and Lady Bears, Go Big at State!! We are super proud of every one of you!!

Bear fans! Our Lady Bear and Bear basketball teams will both be playing today in the 2A South Regional Semi-Finals. The Lady Bears will take on Acorn at 4:00 and the Bears will be playing Fordyce at 8:30. Both games can be viewed on YouTube on the Acorn Tiger TV channel, the link is attached below. At Last Night's School Board meeting, the board approved to finish out the rest of this year's calendar on an alternative (hourly) schedule. What this means is that instead of counting required school days (178) we will now be counting required hours (1068). By adding an additional 10 minutes to the end of the school day the rest of this semester and going to school on April 26th (originally a day off), we will be able to finish school at the original planned date of May 28th. We will start adding the 10 minutes this Thursday. Our new release times will be MTTHF at 3:30 and our Wednesday release will be at 2:20. We will still take our President's Day Holiday, Spring Break, and Good Friday Holiday. Thank you.
